What's Involved With Getting a Dental Implant
Everyone's needs are unique, but the following are steps that you can typically expect during the process.
Dental Implant Consultation:
The first step is an evaluation with Dr. Job, where he reviews your dental and medical history, takes digital x-rays, and performs a comprehensive exam to confirm that you’re a good dental implant candidate.
Placing Your Dental Implant:
Before your procedure, Dr. Job will numb your mouth using a strong local anesthetic to ensure your comfortable. Next, he places the titanium implant post in the exact location, position, and depth in your jawbone.
Dental Implant Healing:
As the tooth implant post heals, it fuses with your jawbone. This is called osteointegration and takes anywhere from 3-6 months to complete.
Attaching the Abutment:
Once the implant post integrates, Dr. Job places an abutment on the post to connect your implant to your custom restoration. The abutment holds the prosthetic securely in place, so you don’t have to worry about it slipping or falling off.
Restoring Implant Function and Appearance:
When your final custom prosthetic- crown, bridge, or denture - comes back from the lab, Dr. Job will make adjustments as needed and secure it to the abutment. Once completed, your custom restoration will look, feel, and function just like a natural tooth.
